Having yet to touch base on makeup on the blog, today’s post uncovers one of my idiosyncrasies…LIPSTICKS!
I’m no beauty expert but simply a lipstick hoarder, particularly gravitating towards mauve hues.
A trip to Sephora two months back where I walked out with six different mauve lipsticks, convincing myself that they are of different “hue intensity” and I own nothing quite like this – who was I kidding…
Mauve lipsticks hold a fair share of identity problems in the beauty industry. I mean for starters, how do you define “mauve”?
Oh, the shade woes.
Mauve lips were highly popular in the 80s and recently have been making an upturn in the beauty world. I remember going through my mum’s vanity and discovering these odd lavender, pink shade lipsticks and giving her the “why would you buy this” remark, only to find myself gushing over the same trend as we speak now.
Mauve; between dusty rose and beige with modern pale purple undertones
Initially when I began my hunt for my first mauve lipstick, it wasn’t so easy. Due to the natural yellow undertones to the Indian skin many looked overtly pale with my complexion. After a lot of trial and error I’ve found the ones that work for me, formulation and color pay off wise.
